About Me
Dementia and Your Loved One

I've been a caretaker of an elderly woman with dementia for over two years. I've seen the effects of this mental affliction, and how devastating it can be to loved ones. This is why I am a firm believer in seeking a professional diagnosis, so the patient may receive necessary care and treatment. Once diagnosed at the onset of symptoms, a plan can be devised. Through social interaction and daily care, my charge has achieved a higher quality of life. If your loved one has been diagnosed with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, you can make a difference. Love will find a way.

Dental Morning Delight: Try Some Tooth-Friendly Strawberry Pancakes

Vickie Armstrong

Most people know that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. But did you know that you can make your breakfast a tooth-friendly and healthy delight as well? The following is a recipe for strawberry pancakes that should be a wonderful addition to your morning meal and your oral health.

The Secrets Behind The Recipe

The first thing you should pay attention to is the topping of your pancakes. You will be using pure maple syrup. Maple syrup contains many natural vitamins and minerals, including calcium and magnesium. Both ingredients are very beneficial to your teeth. The reason is that your teeth are mostly made of calcium, so maple syrup will remineralize your teeth. And magnesium acts like a bond between your teeth and calcium to make sure that this remineralization lasts a long time. Make sure that you purchase raw, unfiltered and natural maple syrup from your local health food store or online.

Another ingredient that you should pay attention to is the strawberries. Strawberries help fight off stains and plaque-causing bacteria with the malic acid that it contains. Malic acid acts like a buffer and helps remove the bio-adhesive material that stains and bacteria use to get stuck to your teeth.

The last ingredient that you should pay attention to is raw honey. Raw honey helps diminish the cavity-causing bacteria population with the use of enzymes. These enzymes are poisonous to the pathogens in your mouth. Raw honey is also a deadly dehydrator to oral bacteria because of its high osmotic properties.

Make sure you talk to your dentist, like David Jackson, DDS, about adding some of the aforementioned ingredients to your diet, since they are related to your oral health.

You need the following ingredients to make your pancakes:
