About Me
Dementia and Your Loved One

I've been a caretaker of an elderly woman with dementia for over two years. I've seen the effects of this mental affliction, and how devastating it can be to loved ones. This is why I am a firm believer in seeking a professional diagnosis, so the patient may receive necessary care and treatment. Once diagnosed at the onset of symptoms, a plan can be devised. Through social interaction and daily care, my charge has achieved a higher quality of life. If your loved one has been diagnosed with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, you can make a difference. Love will find a way.

Different Types Of Eco-Friendly Sunglasses

Vickie Armstrong

It is important to protect your eyes from the sun's harmful UV rays, and there are many sunglass choices on the market today. The lenses are usually made from the same materials, but you have many choices when it comes to the frames. You can find frames made with metal and plastic, but there are also frames that are made with renewable and recyclable materials you can purchase.

Bio acetate

Bio acetate is one of the most common renewable materials used to make sunglasses. It is also known as bio plastic, eco acetate, or cellulose acetate. Cellulose is found in the plant fiber in trees, and is the main ingredient used when making these sunglasses, along with some natural plasticizers.

Bamboo

Bamboo is considered a sustainable material because it grows much quicker than trees, and can get up to a few feet in only a few months. This is why manufacturers that make "green" sunglasses choose bamboo as one of the materials. They may also mix bamboo with other recycled materials to make unique sunglasses.

Recycled

There are eyewear companies that use recycled materials that are safe for sunglasses.  Some of these materials include plastic, stainless steel, recycled skateboards, bicycles, and many other things.

Titanium

Titanium is a hypoallergenic and light metal that is used to make sunglasses, and is usually made from vanadium and aluminum. All of these are considered safe metals.

Wood

You can also purchase sunglasses made from wood. Some of the types of woods used include mahogany, walnut, pear, white maple, and zebrawood. Wood cabinets, old whiskey or wine barrels, old wood furniture, and anything else made from wood can be recycled into sunglasses. Some companies use reclaimed wood, or FSC certified wood, instead of chopping down trees for the purpose of making these sunglasses.

Vintage Frames

You can purchase vintage sunglass frames at many eyewear and antique stores. Reusing items is a great way to give back to the environment. You can find these frames in a wide range of styles, shapes, and colors.

If you need new sunglasses, you should consider purchasing eco-friendly. You can find them in a wide range of colors and styles, and should have no problem finding some to go with anything you are wearing. They not only protect your eyes from the sun, but they also look great on you. Discover more on eyewear websites dedicated to eco-friendly practices.
