About Me
Dementia and Your Loved One

I've been a caretaker of an elderly woman with dementia for over two years. I've seen the effects of this mental affliction, and how devastating it can be to loved ones. This is why I am a firm believer in seeking a professional diagnosis, so the patient may receive necessary care and treatment. Once diagnosed at the onset of symptoms, a plan can be devised. Through social interaction and daily care, my charge has achieved a higher quality of life. If your loved one has been diagnosed with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, you can make a difference. Love will find a way.

Health Tips: Wart Prevention, Early Signs, & Natural Solutions

Vickie Armstrong

Warts occur when certain strands of viruses latch onto your skin due to either a small cut or a large opening. These unsightly virus-infested havens manifest themselves as a white growth that sprouts from your skin. Do not worry, because you can protect yourself with the help of your health specialist, this guide, and a few natural solutions.

How To Prevent Warts

Wart-causing viruses can enter and take over your skin through openings, such as a small scratch. The following are a few things you can do to protect yourself from a virus finding its way into your skin:

  • Clean any scratch or cut with a good antibacterial agent.
  • You can use raw honey on cuts or scratches, as studies have shown that neither viruses nor bacteria can live in raw honey because it is highly acidic.
  • Use sandals, shoes or socks when walking into a gym or a public pool.
  • Do not share clothing with others, as this virus can spread through fibers.
  • Try washing cuts with a bentonite clay wash or applying mud-like bentonite clay to any skin lesion to prevent viral infections. Bentonite clay, when mixed with water, creates a strong ionic exchange that makes the clay attract bacteria or viruses and kill them.
  • Keep yourself dry, because the wart-causing viruses thrive with moisture.
  • Do not forget your regular personal hygiene routine.

Talk to your doctor about any other measures that you can take to keep warts from ever appearing on your skin.

Early Signs of Warts

Catching a wart early on may help you and your doctor get rid of it before it becomes a full-blown viral infection. The following are a few early wart signs:

  • Small rough patch of skin
  • Small growth that could have white, pink, or off-white-like hairs coming out of it
  • Multiple seed-like dots on the rough patch.

Talk to your family practitioner to see if your suspicions are correct and to help you deal with the infection before it grows or spreads.

Natural Solutions

You already know that honey and bentonite clay can help, but there are other natural solutions that you can consider like the following:

  • You can try placing duct tape on the wart for 24 hours; replace it after 24 hours until the wart falls off, which a study showed to work. The duct seems to suffocate and irritate the virus to death.
  • Try using the inside of a banana peel by rubbing it on the wart daily, or place a small piece of the banana on the wart and tape it down for a few hours daily. The peel contains some minerals and fatty acids that help get rid of the virus.

Now you know how to keep yourself from getting a wart and how to deal with it naturally should you need to. Be sure to talk to a doctor like those at Valley Medical Care, as he or she may know other things that you can do keep your skin wart-free.
