About Me
Dementia and Your Loved One

I've been a caretaker of an elderly woman with dementia for over two years. I've seen the effects of this mental affliction, and how devastating it can be to loved ones. This is why I am a firm believer in seeking a professional diagnosis, so the patient may receive necessary care and treatment. Once diagnosed at the onset of symptoms, a plan can be devised. Through social interaction and daily care, my charge has achieved a higher quality of life. If your loved one has been diagnosed with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, you can make a difference. Love will find a way.

Dealing With Bladder Control Issues At The Offce

Vickie Armstrong

When you work a full-time job, you may not have time for distractions during the day. If you have bladder control issues, this can interrupt your day and cause possible embarrassment in the workplace. If you have issues with bladder control, there are some ways to become comfortable and confident in the workplace. Here is how you can deal with bladder issues in the workplace at the office to easily get through the day.

Pump your seats up

Bending over all of the time to get into a low seat can be an issue, especially if bending is one of the thins that causes a bladder leak. For your office chair and other seats that you may choose, be sure to select a high seat. If you have an office chair that can have the height increased or decreased, increase the height as high as you are comfortable with. This means less bending to slide in or out of your chair.

Wear pads with scent protection

If you suffer from bladder control problems, it is possible to experience a bladder leak throughout the day. Wear a pad that will hold a heavy flow during your work day. If you are having issues with controlling bladder, there can also be a scent which you may want to stop. Select a brand of pads or diapers to wear that offer scented options. This will keep you, dry, comfortable, and smelling good so that here is no need for you to be self-conscious.

Carry disposable pouches

If you find yourself having to change your pad during the day, you may not want to do this openly. In your work bag, you should carry disposable pouches to place your pads inside, so that people will not know what you are throwing into the trash can. When wrapped into a paper or plastic disposable pouch, the sight and smell can be concealed and make it look just like you are throwing away anything something innocuous.

Wear loose fitting, dark pants

If there is a possibility that you could have leaks during the day, sticking to pants that could hide any possible spills or leaks is the proper office wear. Wear dark pants in black, deep gray, or navy blue will help to visually mask spills. It is also prudent to wear long shirts that can cover your pants to the upper thigh area. This means that you will have extra protection in the event that a spill happens. Keep an extra pair of pants  and underwear inside of your work desk or your work locker so that you can change if necessary.
