About Me
Dementia and Your Loved One

I've been a caretaker of an elderly woman with dementia for over two years. I've seen the effects of this mental affliction, and how devastating it can be to loved ones. This is why I am a firm believer in seeking a professional diagnosis, so the patient may receive necessary care and treatment. Once diagnosed at the onset of symptoms, a plan can be devised. Through social interaction and daily care, my charge has achieved a higher quality of life. If your loved one has been diagnosed with dementia or Alzheimer's disease, you can make a difference. Love will find a way.

Installing A Rubber Floor In Your Home Gym Is Worth It

Vickie Armstrong

People often set their home gyms up on whatever floor they happen to have. Maybe that floor is tile or perhaps it is carpet. There is nothing necessarily wrong with this approach, but there is a better option. Installing a rubber floor in your home gym is definitely worth it. Here's why.

Your feet will benefit from the cushioning.

Cushioning matters when you work out. This is why your joints tend to be sorer after you jog or work out on a concrete surface rather than a grass one. Rubber flooring is nicely cushioned and therefore good to work out on. You may notice less joint soreness, fewer tendon and ligament problems, and faster recovery when you work out on a rubber floor. Over time, this may mean fewer visits to the podiatrist and orthopedist.

You can work out directly on the floor.

If you want to do floor exercises like crunches and push-ups on an ordinary floor, you often need to put down a yoga mat or towel first. But if you have a rubber floor, you can skip this step and work out directly on the floor. This makes it easier for you to work floor exercises into your routine without having to pause and set up for them. You also don't have to find a place to store gym mats when they're not in use.

You can move equipment without damaging the floor.

Moving equipment on a hard floor is not always easy. If you set the equipment down too fast, it may dent or damage the floor. Moving equipment on the carpet is not much easier; it tends to get caught on the carpet fibers. However, if you have rubber flooring, moving your gym equipment is easy. There's padding to protect the equipment if you don't set it down that gently, and the equipment also can't get caught on rubber flooring.

You can clean it up easily.

Rubber flooring is easy to clean. You can simply wipe it down with some water and a sanitizing cleanser. This will kill any germs, which is a good idea in a home gym. You don't have to worry as much about spreading bacterial or fungal infections.

If you have a home gym, installing a rubber floor is often a wise choice. Consider the benefits above. For more information, contact a company that sells and installs home gym rubber flooring.
